Four ducks who had never seen sunlight or swam in water have been rescued and rehomed by South Angle Farm Park in Cambridgeshire.

The birds arrived at the park this week after living their whole lives inside a barn. They will now begin a period of recovery before joining the rest of the farm's ducks in an outdoor enclosure.

A spokesperson for South Angle Farm Park said: “We have never been outside, we have never seen the sunshine. We have never swam in water. We have spent our lives inside a barn.”

They added: “Without going into too much detail, these beautiful ladies have had a hard start.”

The ducks were brought in by Farmer Sally and will stay in the park’s hospital bay while they adjust. The farm says they will now be able to roam, forage, swim, and settle into their new home.

The ducks have been named Abigail, Amelia, May, and Merriweather.

“We hope you can come down and see them thrive here at the farm and follow along with their journey,” said the spokesperson.

South Angle Farm Park rehomes a mixture of rescue, rehomed, and new animals.
