A drug dealer who led police on a high-speed pursuit in Huntingdon has been jailed.

26-year-old Michael Ledlie, of Almond Road, Dogsthorpe, Peterborough, was sentenced to four years last Thursday (17 August) after pleading guilty to multiple offences.

The chase at 12:15pm on 11 July began after Ledlie was spotted by police on Ermine Street driving in a blue Kia Rio that had been linked to drug dealing.

Ledlie then accelerated along the road, reaching speeds of 80mph, double the 40mph speed limit, and overtaking across solid white lines.

After arriving in Little Stukeley, Ledlie lost control at the Alconbury Weald roundabout and crashed into a hedge.

Police arrested Ledlie at the scene, and a search of his car uncovered six packages of crack cocaine worth ÂŁ60, ÂŁ300 in cash, and cannabis worth about ÂŁ30.

A later search of his home uncovered another ÂŁ1,600 worth of crack cocaine in a bowl, phone numbers written on a piece of paper, and a set of digital scales.

Ledlie would later plead guilty at Peterborough Crown Court to possession with intent to supply crack cocaine, possession with intent to supply cannabis, dangerous driving, driving with no licence and driving with no insurance.

Responding to his sentencing, DC Andrea Farnes said that "drugs destroy lives so I am delighted we have taken one less dealer off our streets."

"Not only that, Ledlie put people in danger by his driving so I hope he reflects on everything he has done in prison."
