Demolition has been approved for the building which currently exists where a new Community Diagnostic Centre is hoped to be built.

The North West Anglia NHS Foundation Trust have confirmed the approval for the site in Wellington Street, Peterborough, described as hitting another "exciting milestone".

The new CDC will be offering CT, MRI and DEXA scanning, as well as phlebotomy services and a direct link to the pathology services that are run at Peterborough City Hospital.

Scaffolding at the site, and fencing, are due to be erected in the coming days, with demolition to begin next week.

As part of the next steps for the project, a formal planning application for the CDC will be submitted.

The Centre, which is due to open late next year, is hoped to meet the demand of services in the city and 'an expanding population.'
