Police are appealing for witnesses and information after three people were seriously injured in a crash between Ely and Soham.

A grey BMW 218D collided with a white Renault Scenic, which then collided with a white Peugeot Partner Van, on the A142 at Stuntney.

It happened at the junction for Ben’s Yard, an artisan retail village, at about 11.50am on Saturday (2/3).

An 18-year-old girl from Burwell, who was a passenger in the BMW, was taken to Addenbrooke’s Hospital, in Cambridge, with serious injuries.

The driver, a 42-year-old woman, from Burwell, a man and a six-year-old child, also in the BMW, suffered minor injuries.

The driver of the Renault Scenic, a 63-year-old man from Cambridge, was also taken to Addenbrooke’s with serious injuries, as was a passenger, another 63-year-old man from Cambridge.

The driver of the Peugeot van, a 76-year-old man from Sutton, and a passenger, both suffered minor injuries.

Sergeant Steph Corletto, from the road policing unit, said: “This was a nasty collision which has left three people seriously injured.

“The A142 by Ben’s Yard was very busy at the time of the crash so I am appealing for anyone who saw what happened or has dashcam footage of it to come forward.”
