Hikers complete charity drive to walk between two villages with same name
The group of walkers raised thousands of pounds for a youth charity
Two men have raised thousands of pounds for charity by walking from one village to another of the same name.
Stephen Thompson and Andrew Wilding embarked on the challenge, walking from Haddenham in Cambridgeshire to Haddenham in Buckinghamshire for charity.
The drive was to raise funds for Holly's Active Stars, a youth charity allowing children to pursue sports in the midst of the cost of living crisis.
In total, the group raised ÂŁ6,000 for the charity, as well as for a local library in the village - though more money is expected to be raised.
A troupe of fellow walkers also joined the men for parts of the journey, which in total stretched 90 miles long (145 kilometres).
The pair finished the drive by reaching Haddenham in Buckinghamshire on Saturday afternoon (July 6th).
Speaking after reaching their goal, the pair said they were thrilled to have completed the mission, as they took a picture with the sign.
"We did it! We took a picture with the sign, and we've raised over ÂŁ6,000, so we smashed our target," they said in a video.
"I'm gonna be resting my leg for a week on ice, because it's in a lot of pain - I hobbled along, but we got there," Thompson added.
Wilding went on to say that he felt "weird" at not having to be walking anywhere following the week-long challenge.
"It feels weird sitting down, but I want to say a huge thank you to everyone who's supported us and joined us - it's been really enjoyable," he said.
However, the pair have little time to rest as the pair admitted they must return to work on Monday (July 8th) following their charity push.
