Woman in her 60s fighting for life at Addenbrooke's after being hit by van

A woman in her 60s is fighting for life after being hit by a van near Little Paxton.

The woman, who was on foot, was struck by a Citroen Relay van on the southbound carriageway of the A1 at just before 9pm yesterday (18 September).

Ambulance crews attended and the woman, who is in her 60s, was taken to Addenbrooke’s Hospital, in Cambridge, where she remains this morning in a critical condition.

The road was closed while the vehicle was recovered and the driver of the van, a man in his 50s, is helping police with their enquiries.

Anyone who witnessed the collision, or the pedestrian in the area beforehand, should call 101 and ask to speak to a member of the Road Policing Unit, quoting Op Gulati or incident 512 of 18 September.
