As millions of Brits wait to find out if they've bagged an Oasis ticket this morning, a Cambridgeshire musician believes the band's reunion is key for the country's music scene.

Liam and Noel Gallagher officially confirmed an Oasis reunion, 15 years after the band split.

The announcement came before tracks from the first recording session for Oasis's debut album Definitely Maybe were released on Friday, marking its 30-year anniversary.

Tom Harlock is a musician in Fenland and an Oasis fan:

"I think the reunion is important for the British music scene, as with any big touring artist, wherever they play it's bringing a lot of business into that city and keeping live music going," he said.

"In this country, it's going to be the hottest ticket for a while I'm sure, other than Taylor Swift's tour, this is going to be the big one.

"But they wouldn't go and tour anywhere else; it's got to be in the UK."

Calls to get the band back together

Oasis' tour dates in Cardiff, Manchester, London, Edinburgh and Dublin will be the band's "only shows in Europe next year", it's been confirmed.

The concerts next year will mark the first time Oasis have performed live together since they headlined the Weston Park leg of V Festival in August 2009.

Fans of the Manchester rock band have pleaded with the brothers to regroup since they disbanded in 2009, prompted by a backstage brawl at the Rock en Seine festival in Paris.

Reunion rumours had intensified amid the apparent thawing in the feud between the pair.

Tom remembers how listening to music has changed since the 1990s.

"We'd save up our pocket money, walk into Woolworths and buy the album; you'd play it to death and if it was on cassette or CD, you'd live and breathe that for a few weeks and you loved it," he recalled.

"I think people want a bit of nostalgia, see and hear the best hits and be taken back to the nineties and early noughties with that sound, and if they chuck in a few new songs, brilliant."
