A driver from Northstowe who was found to be nearly three times over the drink drive limit when stopped by police in June has been disqualified from driving for 17 months.

41 year old Carlos Manuel Pereira from Papaver Venue was reported by a worried passer by when making a late night trip out for food, after having drunk at home on June 3rd 2025.

He had started his journey on foot, but went back home for his car and after realising he was unfit to drive headed back home - but was stopped by officers during the journey.

Cambridgeshire Police say a breath test showed him at 101 microgrammes of alcohol per 100 millilitres of breath - the legal limit is 35. A later test in custody recorded a reading of 66.

Pereira pleaded guilty to drink driving.

PC Donoghue-Rowe said, "Driving under the influence of alcohol is incredibly dangerous and puts lives at risk. This case shows how even a short journey can have serious consequences. We’re grateful to the member of the public who reported their concerns."
