A mother from Cambridgeshire has been arrested on suspicion of drink driving on Mother's Day, while her three kids were sat in the car.

The woman flagged down the police at the roadside in Huntingdon because she had a flat tyre.

Officers smelt alcohol on her - and she failed a breathalyser test.

Huntingdon Police posted the following to their Facebook page:

"Mother’s Day for one Cambridgeshire mum took a turn for the worse yesterday when she was arrested on suspicion of drink driving"

"We were flagged down by the woman at the roadside in Huntingdon at just after 9pm because she had a flat tyre.

"However, when speaking to her, officers could smell alcohol and noticed she had three children in the car on the A1307.

"She failed a breath test, was arrested and remains in police custody, while safeguarding plans have also been put in place to protect the children."
