People in Cambridge urged to ditch the hosepipe this summer
The 'Can for Cam' campaigns hopes to preserve water supplies and save our chalk streams
People living in Cambridge are being urged to use watering cans and reduce their use of hosepipes in a bid to save water this summer.
Cambridge Water has launched its 'Can for Cam' campaign.
They say a hose uses up to 1,000 litres an hour - as much as an adult uses in a week.
This water is potentially high quality drinking water.
Not using our hoses has the potential to keep millions of litres in our local streams according to the supply company.
Cambridge Water hope to reduce leakage by 15% by 2025.
