Cambridge United's League One match against Barnsley this afternoon will be in support of the White Ribbon Campaign, which encourages men to speak out about violence against women.

The club have called it the "Dedicated White Ribbon matchday", in an attempt to raise awareness of the campaign.

On their website, White Ribbon say they're "the UK’s leading charity engaging men and boys to end violence against women and girls."

They add: "Our aim is to prevent violence against women and girls by addressing its root causes.

"We work with men and boys to change long-established, and harmful, attitudes, systems and behaviours around rigid gender norms and masculinity that perpetuate inequality and violence.

"Our work is preventative; we want to stop violence before it starts."

Via their website, Cambridge United offer fans tips on what you can do to help crackdown on the issue of violence towards women:

"Visit the Cambridge City Council White Ribbon Stall in the North Habbin Fan Zone at Saturday's match to find out more about the campaign.

"Think about your behaviour and those of your friends and colleagues- where safe to, challenge unacceptable behaviour and positively influence other men and boys to become allies.

"Become a White Ribbon Ambassador to make a positive difference in your workplace or community."

They play Barnsley, who sit in fourth, as they hope to bounce back from their 6-1 defeat to county rivals Peterborough United last week.

The U's currently sit in the relegation zone in 22nd, four points from safety.
