Cambridge United set to release seven players this summer

Cambridge United have released seven members of their squad for the upcoming season - after they survived relegation from League 1.

The players departing at the conclusion of their contracts are Ryan Bennett, Harrison Dunk, Brandon Haunstrup, James Holden, Saikou Janneh, Fejiri Okenabirhie and Lyle Taylor.

Four contracted players have been made available for transfer – Jack Lankester, Adam May, Jubril Okedina and Lewis Simper.

New contracts have been offered to James Brophy, Mamadou Jobe, Elias Kachunga, Sullay Kaikai, Will Mannion and Glenn McConnell, whilst Jordan Cousins has an option to extend his contract and conversations are ongoing.

Option years have been activated for Dan Barton, Liam Bennett, Louis Chadwick and Brandon Njoku, whilst Gassan Ahadme, Macauley Bonne and James Gibbons all return to their parent clubs.

In a statement, Cambridge United said: "The Club would like to place on record its appreciation to all departing players for their hard work and professionalism whilst with Cambridge United, and wish them the very best for the future."
