Two buildings at the University of Cambridge have been granted protection as listed buildings.

The Dining Hall and the Rayne Building at Darwin College, have both been listed as Grade II by the Department for Culture, Media and Sport (DCMS), on the advice of Historic England.

The buildings date back to 1964.

Darwin was the first college exclusively for post-graduates and to admit both men and women.

The Rayne Building is a 4-storey accommodation block on the main College site.

A Grade 2 listed building is defined as a UK building or structure that is "of special interest, warranting every effort to preserve it".

Grade 2 listings are the most common listing type.

A detached townhouse bought from descendants of Charles Darwin in 1962 and a neighbouring house bought from St John's College in 1966 are both already listed at Grade II, since 1972.
