Cambridge United sign goalkeeper Jack Stevens from Oxford United
The 25 year old signs a two year contract
Cambridge United have signed Jack Stevens from Oxford United on a two year contract.
The 25-year-old goalkeeper joins on an initial free transfer, but with Oxford United retaining a future interest in the player.
He is Cambridge's first signing since escaping relegation on the final day of last season.
Stevens has been with Oxford for his entire professional career, signing pro for the first time as an 18-year-old in 2016.
After spending his first few seasons out on loan for local non-league sides, Stevens has risen up the ranks to make 92 League One appearances across the past three seasons.
He spent last season on loan at Port Vale.
Boss Mark Bonner said: "A strong goalkeeper union is always important in the team and I believe that Jack will be an excellent addition within that.
"He's quick around the goal and off his line, deals well with crosses, is a strong shot stopper and shows composure with the ball."
Stevens added: “It’s a good time for me to settle somewhere, hopefully play regular football and be somewhere really positive."
“It feels like it fits and I am really happy to be here.
"I know the league really well and I am looking to show everyone how good of a goalkeeper I am.”
Stevens will wear the number one shirt.
