Cambridge is going to receive millions to become what the Chancellor has called "the world's leading scientific powerhouse".

In his Spring Budget, Jeremy Hunt says there will be a long-term funding settlement for a future development corporation in Cambridge - worth around £10 million.

In December, Housing Secretary Michael Gove said the corporation could deliver upwards of 150,000 homes around the city over the next 20 years.

Mr Hunt also said life sciences company AstraZeneca - who were behind the COVID vaccine - will invest £650 million across the country.

The money will go towards expanding their footprint on the Cambridge Biomedical Campus and fund the building of a vaccine manufacturing hub in Speke in Liverpool.
