Cambridge Folk Festival to skip 2025
The iconic festival will return in 2026, with plans for local events and support for emerging artists in the meantime
The Cambridge Folk Festival, one of the UK’s most celebrated music events, has announced it will not take place in 2025 as organisers focus on its long-term development. The festival, held annually at Cherry Hinton Hall, will return in 2026.
In a statement, organisers explained the decision is aimed at ensuring the event thrives for future generations. "This decision marks an important step in the evolution of the festival," they said. "It has such a special legacy, and we are committed to seeing it thrive as it has done over the past 60 years."
During the break, the festival will continue to support the folk music community with a series of locally based events across Cambridge. Plans are also in place to assist emerging youth and folk artists through new initiatives.
Organisers are inviting feedback from the public and intend to collaborate with performers and operational teams to shape future festivals.
For those who have already purchased tickets for 2025, organisers have assured buyers their purchases are protected. Ticket holders will be contacted directly and given the choice of a refund or the option to carry their booking over to the 2026 event.
"The Cambridge Folk Festival is so much more than just an event—it’s a place where friendships, stories, and memories are made," the statement added. "We thank you for your support, and we cannot wait to share an unforgettable 2026 festival with you."
The Cambridge Folk Festival has been a key part of the city’s cultural calendar for six decades, attracting thousands of visitors each year and showcasing some of the finest talent in folk music.
