Cambridge congestion charge plans scrapped at debate
The revised plans would have seen charges apply during peak times
Plans for a congestion charge in Cambridge will not be going forward.
The decision was confirmed at a meeting of the Greater Cambridge Partnership's executive board today, after a debate on revised plans for a charge were cancelled earlier this month.
Had the plans been approved, they would have passed to Cambridgeshire County Council, the county's highways authority, for consideration.
The revised plans included a charge only applying in peak time hours in the morning and afternoon.
Small businesses in Cambridge were proposed to get a 50 per cent discount for delivery lorries and vans, and a 50 per cent discount is proposed for people on low incomes.
