New Cambridge Arts Festival hopes to celebrate city’s creativity
The week-long festival has been taking place
One of the organisers of this year's Cambridge Arts Festival hopes the event can stand it in good stead for years to come.
The festival, which has been running all week, aims to celebrate the rich cultural tapestry and artistic spirit of Cambridge with events ranging from interactive art stations to treasure hunts taking place.
The festival has been organised by Cambridge’s Business Improvement District (BID), who say they hope it “will be a remarkable celebration of the arts.”
According to the company, the Arts Festival is a “testament to the rich and artistic spirit that makes Cambridge truly unique.”
Project leader Abby Pollock hopes the festival will “create an umbrella which helps bustle together all of Cambridge's art organisations and individuals, to help create better relationships.
"The festival has given me the chance to open doors to creativity"
"We've been putting on a variety of different workshops and activities that are all free for people to try out and hopefully learn different skills surrounding the arts and culture Cambridge can offer.
"This festival has given me the chance to open the doors to different types of creativity and that has been an amazing personal journey.
"I would love it if this festival created an umbrella which helps bustle together different arts organisations and individuals and help them form better relationships."
There are a total of 20 different types of events over the week, targeted at all ages.
Organisers say diversity was a huge factor in considering the events, and making people feel welcome is a “priority.”
