On 26th December 2022, Aitzaz Sadiq, 36, appeared drunk as he threatened the victim on Bamber Street in Peterborough at around 10 pm.

After walking away from Sadiq’s initial threats, the victim, a man in his 20’s, was followed and punched in the back of the head.

Sadiq then continued to stab the victim in the hand and caused a laceration to his neck.

Police were contacted after Sadiq followed the victim to his home on Cromwell Road and smashed his front window. Sadiq was later arrested.

The victim had to undergo surgery for damage to tendons in his hand, leaving him with permanent damage. His injuries have caused restricted movement, impacting his ability to do work and tasks.

DC Andrew Donaldson said: “This was a vicious, unprovoked attack that has left the victim with life-changing injuries.

“I’m pleased Sadiq has now appeared in court and faced justice.”

Sadiq admitted wounding with intent, possession of a knife in a public place and criminal damage.
