A Cambridgeshire air show organiser is telling us marking the Battle of Britain is key for all generations.

Around 30 thousand people are expected to visit Imperial War Museum Duxford his weekend for a series of flypasts, as well as talks and workshops based on the 1940s.

Some of the aircraft due on display include the Bristol Blenheim, B-17 ‘Sally B’, parachute displays and a flypast of at least 12 Spitfires and four Hurricanes, while the RAF F-35 Roll Demo Lightning will be making its debut at Duxford.

Phil Hood is the air show event manager:

"We're really lucky to have some Swedish aircraft coming across this year, which is the Saab B 17 which doesn't appear in the UK skies very much," he said.

"Me and the team have been working on this show for well over a year now, so at all times through the year, we will be looking at the air shows and trying to make them as exciting as possible for everybody coming."

On the ground, living history groups, live music and vintage hairstyling from the 1940s will be available and visitors are encouraged to dress to 1940s fashion.

The event marks the month that RAF Fighter Command beat the German Luftwaffe following the battle between July and October 1940.

Mr Hood hopes that the show will educate both younger and older people about the importance of this air campaign.

"I think it's important history isn't forgotten and that's what we're here to do, to preserve those stories and discuss the causes and consequences of war, and we use aircraft to do that tool," he added.

"We're flying aircraft here that are 70 years old, and if we can inspire the next generation tod o bigger and better things with aviation, that's a great thing to be doing as well."
