The National Trust have apologised after cancelling their Winter Lights Anglesey Abbey event, and not emailing visitors.

The event on Saturday was cancelled due to poor weather conditions, with a post on Facebook saying the 'car parks being waterlogged and strong winds forecast for later in the evening'.

The post online also said 'all ticketholders will receive an automatic email from the booking office and refunds will be issued.'

But an email was not sent to ticket holders before the event, meaning many still travelled there.

In an update, the venue said the cancellation should have been sent from an automatic central booking office and they are 'investigating why this did not happen'.

It was the last weekend the event runs, on every weekend since November 17th.
