34% increase in council tax proposed in Great Shelford
The cash would be spent on road and traffic safety
People in Great Shelford could be paying more council tax - as the parish council considers increasing its share of the bill by 34 per cent.
Great Shelford Parish Council has proposed the increase that could see villagers in Band D households pay £206.35 towards the authority, an increase of £52.97 a year, or £4.41 more a month.
The council tax increase would fund road and traffic safety in the village.
The proposals are due to be discussed by the parish council at a full council meeting tomorrow (17/1).
The current proposals in Great Shelford could see the parish council receive a total of £422,506 in funding from council tax in the 2024/25 financial year.
This would be an increase of over £100,000 from what it received from council tax in this financial year (2023/24), when the parish council received £314,500.
The parish council said it is proposing to ask for more money from villagers to help fund its plans to look at ways to deter through traffic and manage the speed of vehicles in Church Street.
