Police release CCTV after racist comments made towards child in Yate

Police seek information following incident at Yate Shopping Centre

CCTV images have been released as part of an appeal for information after a man approached a mother and her three-year-old child in Yate Shopping Centre, making racially-aggravated comments.

The incident occurred in East Walk between 11:30am and midday on Monday 29th September. According to police, the man directed the comments towards the child, who is of dual heritage.

The mother asked him to stop and walked away before later reporting the matter to authorities on 4th October.

Officers have since been conducting investigations and are now seeking to identify the man captured in these CCTV images, who may hold vital information.

Description of the man sought by police

The man is described as white, in his sixties, about 5ft 8ins tall, with very short or balding hair.

Police are urging the man or anyone who may recognise him to come forward and assist with enquiries.
