A new tourist attraction is coming to Bristol this summer, from the team behind the Boomtown music festival.

Wake The Tiger is being called the world's first Amazement Park and will be in St Phillips near Temple Meads, offering "a maze of immersive environments, secret passageways, hidden forests, temples, ice caves and mesmerising wonders".

Graham MacVoy is the Founder and Managing Director of Wake The Tiger.

“This project is two years in the making and the result of decades of creative input from some of the best technologists, story-tellers and creative minds working across festivals and attractions in the UK," he said.

"We are starting this new movement in our spiritual home of Bristol and can’t wait to be open this summer.”

Boomtown music festival takes place in Hampshire every year, but the organiser's headquarters is in Bristol.

They say Bristol is the "perfect place" for the park, with it in easy reach of London, Cardiff and the Midlands.

We spoke to their creative director Lak Mitchell, who calls Wake The Tiger an "all year round version" of the festival's creative elements.

"Around seven years ago we wanted to come up with a solution that opened our doors up to absolutely everyone," he said.

"Not just people who wanted to live in a field or listen to certain styles of music, and also to be in a permanent location as well."

It is hoped Wake The Tiger will welcome up to 300,000 visitors a year.

We are told it will communicate "spiritual and scientific teachings" to help inspire a better world, as well as simply providing a space to have fun.

Over ÂŁ1.5million of seed investment has already been secured from private investors for the plans, but this month the team is launching a Crowdcube fundraiser to secure an additional ÂŁ350,000.
