Women's football in the West Country one of the best attended in Europe

New stats out this weekend have confirmed one of the West Country's women's football squads is the 4th best attended in Europe.
Sitting behind Arsenal FC, Manchester United, and FC Barcelona site Bristol City FC - with numbers gathered by Soccerdonna revealing nearly 9,000 people on average come down to watch the game.
Out of their Top 10 list to end the year, 6 of those are based in England - with these numbers coming off the back of a hugely successful year for the Lionesses, who made it all the way to the final of this year's World Cup.
Bristol City Women on X have expressed their appreciation to fans, posting: "Things you LOVE to see".
Bristol Sport Group CEO Gavin Marshall called these stats a 'massive kudos' to the squad.
He said on X: "4th best attendance in Europe - A nice stat to end the year.
"Massive thank you to all the Bristol City Women's and Bristol City fans who have supported the team in 2023.
"And massive kudos to my talented colleagues who have worked so hard to achieve this. See you in 2024!"
