Two suspected art thieves are being hunted by police in Bristol after a valuable piece was stolen from a gallery in Clifton.
Officers from Avon and Somerset Police have revealed the news today, saying it was taken from the Hidden Gallery in the Clifton Arcade between 1:15pm and 1:26pm last Tuesday 30 August.
The limited-edition piece, by the famous artist Grayson Perry is a 27cm tall gold sculpture made from glazed ceramic and was on display at the time.
"One of these men is described as white, in his thirties, of slim build, with dark facial hair," a statement from the police reads.
"He was wearing a camouflage-pattern baseball cap, a dark zip-up jacket, with a blue V-neck shirt underneath, as well as dark joggers and white trainers."
The limited edition figure is worth a five figure sum, it is understood, with online art brokerage company Artsy giving it an estimated value of £22,500.
Perry is known for his television programmes examining the nature of people's relationship with art.
Alien Baby appeared in his 2018 Bafta-nominated series Rites of Passage in the episode examining birth.
Since December last year, Bristol Museum and Art Gallery has hosted an exhibition of work by both Perry and his wife Philippa and also by members of the public.
The works were made as part of the Channel 4 series Grayson's Art Club.
If you know anything about the theft, or you have seen the piece of art since, you are asked to call 101 and give the call handler the reference number 5222209796.
