St Pauls Carnival announces musical line up
The 55th edition follows the theme "Learning from Legends", largely in memory of Bristol civil rights campaigner Roy Hackett
Organisers of St Pauls Carnival have revealed the musical line up for this summer's event.
The 55th edition will take place on Saturday 1 July and will be the first Carnival to take place in it's full form since the coronavirus pandemic.
This year's event follows a theme of "learning from legends" and with that in mind the main stage has been named The Roy Hackett Memorial Stage, in memory of the Bristol civil rights activist and carnival founder, who passed away last summer.
The artists announced to perform on this stage, which will be in St Pauls Learning Centre Green, include The Horseman and The Uppercut Band, Talisman, Laid Blak, Dallas, Moyah, Da Fuchaman and his Fire Blaze Band, Josephine Gyasi, Zed Regal.
There will be four stages in all:
- The Roy Hackett Memorial Stage
- Raising Legends
- Radical Roots
- Mandela's Hideaway
Carnival Chairman Levi Roots said: “We are so excited to unveil the amazing diverse carnival line up, featuring talent from Bristol and all over the world.
“The arts are what make the true carnival experience, celebrating and sharing of our diverse cultures and delivering excellence through music, words and more.
"As we continue to learn from our legends, we cannot wait to deliver carnival excitement, happy high energy tunes, heavy beats this year."
