Retired veteran Indica Watson, started queuing at 7am, hoping to get one of the available spaces.

"The last time I saw the dentist was when I was in the military, which was about 16 years ago," he said.

"Everyone knows it's hard to get a dentist these days so I took my opportunity."

Jake joined the queue when he saw it form outside his front door.

"It sounds ridiculous but I'm from Australia so have been going home to use the dentist there every two or three years at the moment," Jake said.

"I've lived in the UK for five years, it's been tricky.

"There's not enough dentists, not enough funding and not enough people able to access it."

Dr Gauri Pradhan is the centre's clinical lead: "It's been amazingly smooth.

"Last time we didn't expect the queues but today we were better prepared.

"What's special is that we met our targets and now have the capacity to take on one hundred more.

"People are thankful and appreciate what we're doing."
