Sporting community in Bristol pay tribute to HRH Queen Elizabeth II

Sporting communities across Bristol are paying tribute after Queen Elizabeth II, the UK's longest-serving monarch, died aged 96.

Messages have been pouring in on social media from teams across our local area, since Her Majesty passed away at Balmoral on Thursday (8th September).

Among those sharing tributes is Bristol City Football Club who say they are "deeply saddened" the passing of Her Majesty.

Bristol Rovers Football Club say their thoughts are with the Riyal Family at this "incredibly difficult time".

Bristol Bears have also taken to Twitter. They say they are "deeply saddened" to hear of the passing of Her Majesty The Queen.

Weston-super-Mare AFC have shared a tribute online saying they are "deeply saddened". They added "Rest in peace".

Bristol Pitbulls say they are "deeply saddened" and that their thoughts are with "everyone around the world mourning her loss".

Local basketball club Bristol Flyers say they are "united in mourning" at the passing of Her Majesty The Queen.

Gloucestershire County Cricket Club have described Her Majesty's passing as "desperately sad".

Somerset County Cricket club shared a photograph on Twitter, with the caption saying "The thoughts of everyone at Somerset County Cricket Club are with The Royal Family at this time".
