"Serious" crash on the M4 heading into West Country

We're told the road will be shut for much of rush hour

A section of the M4 is shut this morning after a "serious" multi vehicle crash heading eastbound into England in the early hours of this morning (17/05).

The Highways Agency say emergency services are on the scene, and it's likely to be shut this morning.

We're told the incident happened just after midnight.

A spokesperson from Avon and Somerset Police say "Emergency services were called to a two-vehicle collision on M4 eastbound between junctions 22 (M49) and 21 (M48) at approximately 12.05am this morning (Monday 17 July)."

Drivers are being told to "plan ahead" before they travel this morning, as the closure's likely to cause disruption to commuters.

The advice is to avoid the area if possible, and allow extra time for your journey's.
