Disruption likely as resurfacing planned for major Bristol road
Temple Way is shutting Southbound until Wednesday morning
Disruption is likely in the centre of Bristol from tonight (25 March) when a major road closes for resurfacing.
Temple Way is due to close on the Southbound side towards Temple Meads at 8pm and remain shut until 6am on Wednesday (27 March), from Bond Street South to the A4 Temple Gate.
Parts of Avon Street, Broad Plain and Temple Back East will also be closed, as well as the Temple Way Underpass below Old Market.
A diversion will be in place for the duration of the work.
The work comes as part of a wider programme from the City Council first announced in February, which will eventually see 14 "high use roads" resurfaced across Bristol.
Councillor Don Alexander, Cabinet Member for Transport, said: "We are committed to improving Bristol's transport infrastructure, and I am thrilled to announce a big push on resurfacing problem areas of key roads across the city.
“It’s important that we take an evidence-based approach when planning in these works, to make sure busy roads, most in need of repairs, are at the top of the list.
"We have prioritised 14 roads that, when resurfaced, will be more accessible and safer to use by all road users.”
Other roads on the list include Wick Road at its junction with Sandy Park, Stockwood Road near the A4 Bath Park and Ride and The Haymarket.
In total all the work is due to cost £850,000, funded by central government.
