Avon and Somerset Police have shared more details with us after the arrest of a man at gunpoint was caught on camera.

A video was shared on Twitter on Wednesday evening (October 12), of an armed officer arresting a man on the floor, while another pointed a weapon at them.

It reportedly took place at the end of Chelsea Road in Easton.

Officers have now confirmed the specifics of what happened.

“At around 4.50pm, we received a call relating to a delivery driver being threatened in the area of Chelsea Park, Bristol, by a man carrying what appeared to be a firearm," DI Will Thorpe said.

“Due to the nature of the information received, firearms officers and the National Police Air Service were deployed to the scene.

“A man has been arrested in connection with this incident."

We're told extra patrols will now be carried out in the area to reassure residents, while enquires into what happened continue.

Rob Bryher, who shared the video, told us he had just finished working from a friend's house nearby at the time.

"I just happened to be leaving to go home and saw it and wasn't sure if I could go that way," he said.

"Other than the footage, a number of people on the street were out and visibly shocked and shaken by the presence of a gun on the street.

"It seemed disproportionate as this person wasn't armed or resisting arrest, but I guess they make that decision earlier," he added.
