A police officer has been injured trying to stop a car that was driven towards the scene of a collision in Lockleaze.

Fire and ambulance crews also attended.

Police say no one inside the house was injured and it has been made safe.

Bristol City Council is supporting the people living there.

A man in his twenties was arrested in nearby Shaldon Road on suspicion of driving while unfit through drink or drugs.

He was taken to hospital for assessment, then into police custody.

He has since been released on police bail pending further enquiries.

Avon and Somerset police say while emergency services were dealing with the crash, a Volkswagen Golf was driven towards the scene.

A police officer on foot was injured while trying to stop the car.

The Golf crashed into police vehicles and a fire engine.

The injured officer did not need to go to hospital and remained on duty.

The force say a second officer at the scene was lucky to avoid injury.

A man in his late teens and a man in his twenties were arrested and taken to hospital, then into police custody.

They were arrested in connection with offences including dangerous driving and possession with intent to supply cocaine.

Both have since been released on police bail while investigations continue.
