Police are now investigating the attempted theft of a motorbike.
On X - formally known as Twitter - the incident was called 'shocking' by one passer-by, saying it happened 'in broad daylight', with an appeal launched to the police in the 'hope' of catching those behind the incident.
Today (26 October), officers at Avon and Somerset Police have confirmed they are launching an investigation into what happened.
An appeal has now been launched for witnesses and information, which saw the thieves try to steal a motorbike, whilst also threatening members of the public.
In a statement, officers said: "It was reported at 3.44pm on Monday 23 October in Berkeley Square, Clifton, Bristol. A moment later the suspects - three young men on a motorbike - made off towards Park Street, deterred by the brave actions of witnesses who challenged them.
"The men are all described as white and wearing dark-coloured clothing with their faces covered.
"Officers attended, carried out a search of the area and took statements from witnesses at the time but we're keen to hear from anyone else with information."
