One arrest after Keynsham knife incident

It comes hours after two men were stabbed in Bristol

A person has been arrested on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm with intent after an incident involving a knife in Keynsham.

Officers including armed officers from Avon and Somerset Police were called to Aesop Drive at around 1:40pm this afternoon.

One man was taken to hospital with injuries to his hands, which are not thought to be life threatening.

It comes just hours after two men in their 20s were stabbed in the Easton area of Bristol, leaving one in a serious condition in hospital.

Nine people have been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder in connection with that incident, which happened near Rawnsley Park at around 4:40am this morning.

There has been no suggestion that the two incidents are linked.

Commenting on the Keynsham incident a spokesperson for Avon and Somerset Police said: "We understand there is a great deal of concern in our communities concerning knife crime and residents can expect to see a heightened police presence following this incident.

"We remain dedicated to reducing knife crime and serious violence and we encourage anyone with any questions or concerns to speak with them."
