Netflix to make Jill Dando true crime series
The West Country journalist was shot on her London doorstep in 1999
Netflix have announced they're making a series about the life and tragic death of well-known West Country journalist Jill Dando.
Born in Weston-Super-Mare, during her career she worked for local paper the Weston Mercury, as well as local BBC television before moving onto Crimewatch in the mid-90s.
In April 1999 her death shocked the nation as she was shot on her front doorstep in London.
Netflix has described her killing as "one of the most notorious unsolved murders of the 20th century."
At the time, the investigation to find the murder was one of the biggest conducted by the Metropolitan Police, but despite that the case of who killed her remains a mystery.
An exact release date for the Netflix series is yet to be announced, though we're told it will be this year.
