Nature reserve closed for the whole of summer due to being 'too dangerous'
The area is set to reopen in October.
A popular nature reserve on the eastern edge of Bristol will not be open for the whole of this summer after being deemed too dangerous for the public to go into.
Due to ash dieback disease being found infected in so many trees the decision has had to be made at Wick Golden Valley.
Specialist felling work will be undertaken later in the year.
South Gloucestershire Council stated:
"Wick Golden Valley nature reserve is currently closed because ash trees within the reserve are infected with ash dieback. This makes them structurally unsafe and therefore too dangerous for the public to use the reserve.
"Safety is paramount to visitors using the site as is the need to protect the unique wildlife found here.
"Footpaths nearby will remain open, but paths through and within the reserve will be closed, check the map for details."
