The family of Max Dixon have set off from Weston-Super-Mare and are headed to Bristol to raise money and awareness for bleed kits.
Max Dixon was 16 when he died after an incident in Illminster Avenue, in Knowle West on 27th January, which also killed 15 year old Mason Rist.
A funeral was held on Thursday (21 March) for Max, and another on Friday (22nd March) for Mason.
The family have already raised more than £1,000 for the cause and hope to collect more in buckets.
The 30-mile journey started at Weston’s Grand Pier and will finish at Ashton Gate – they expect it to take at least 8 hours.
Max Dixon’s mum Leanne was there to wave them off and wish them well.
“I think they're bonkers doing it,” Leanne said, “but they wanted to do something for Max and Mason - they want something positive to come out of it.
“I think he’d be lapping up all the attention. I think he would love the fact that we're all doing this for him.
“My boy’s never going to come back but if one of these kits can save another child's life, adults life, anyone's life, then it will be worth it.
“I've got to live now without my boy for the rest of my life and no parent should have to do that.”
At the end of the walk they will stop at the pub to raise a drink in their memory.
