Man's death treated as 'not suspicious' after body found in River Avon

Police have released an update after a man's body was found in the River Avon last month.

They've revealed he was a 59 year old man from Wiltshire - with his death on the 22nd of August not being treated as suspicious.

Officers say his family have been told - and the case has now been passed on to the coroner.

In a statement, a spokesperson from Avon and Somerset Police said: "Police have concluded their enquiries following the death of a man found in the River Avon near Green Park Road, Bath, at about 8.45am on Tuesday 22 August.

"The death of the 59-year-old from Wiltshire is not being treated as suspicious and is now a matter for the coroner. His family have been contacted and our thoughts are with them.

"Officers would like to thank everyone who contacted them with information following the earlier appeal to establish what happened."
