Man charged with murder in Bristol

Avon and Somerset Police are continuing to investigate an alleged stabbing in Bristol and have this morning (23 September) charged a man with murder.

The force have confirmed 25-year-old Kunta Ceesay died from injuries sustained in the attack in Stapleton Road on Friday (20 September).

Officers have since charged 32-year-old Shakawan Siddiqi with murder.

He remains in police custody and is set to appear before Bristol Magistrates Court later.

In a statement the police said: "The preliminary results of a forensic post-mortem examination found Mr Ceesay sustained a stab wound to the chest.

"The formal identification process will be completed this week.

"A specially-trained officer is continuing to be provided to Mr Ceesay’s family and we are continuing to update them as our investigation progresses.

"Two women, aged 36 and 47, arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender have been released under investigation."
