Man arrested in connection with blaze at Bristol boatyard

A man has been arrested after a fire ripped through a boat yard in Bristol in the early hours of Saturday morning (May 6).

Police were rushed to the site - near Cumberland Road - at just after midnight to help the efforts of the Avon Fire and Rescue Service.

At about 12.05am, the force were called to the site - and ever since, they have been working with fire investigators to find out exactly what happened.

The incident, in which dozens of boats were completely destroyed, is currently being treated as a suspicious incident - one of the boats was pictured to have completely sunk.

A 45-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the police's enquiries and is currently in police custody.
