Avon and Somerset Police have now launched an appeal for information following an assault outside a Bristol nightclub.

An arrest has now been made - but the force say they are keen to hear information from anyone who might have been outside Chasers over the weekend.

The incident left the victim - a man in his 40s - needing to go to hospital after being punched in the early hours of Sunday morning (December 11).

Police were called following the incident, which happened at about 1am outside Chasers in Regent Street.

The victim was taken to hospital and had to have treatment following an injury to his eye and a chipped tooth.

A 36-year-old man was arrested at the scene on suspicion of assault causing actual bodily harm.

He has since been released on bail.

Police are now looking through CCTV images as part of their inquiries.

Anyone who witnessed what happened is asked to please call 101 and give the reference number 5222295919.
