Avon and Somerset Police have confirmed they have now arrested a man in connection with a reported assault in the hours following England's Euro 2024 final defeat.

It comes following their appeal for more information yesterday (21 July).

The force say the victim sustained suspected life-changing injuries having been punched in the early hours of 15 July in St Nicholas Street.

A man in his 30s has since come forward to assist with police enquiries and remains in custody.

Officer in the case DC Emily Barber previously said: “The victim continues to receive medical care in hospital and we are determined to provide his loved ones with answers about what happened."
