Poilce investigating the discovery of human remains in two suitcases near the Clifton Suspension Bridge in Bristol have made an arrest in London.

The Metropolitan Police say the 36-year-old is "not the same man" who is the subject of an ongoing police appeal.

A Metropolitan Police spokesperson said: "A man, aged 36, was arrested at an address in Greenwich early on Friday 12 July.

"He has been taken into custody where he remains. This is not the same man we are appealing for."

The Met took over the investigation from Avon and Somerset Police after it was discovered the suspect had travelled from London to Bristol the same day.

A crime scene remains in place at a location in Shepherds Bush, west London.

The victims have not yet been formally identified but both are believed to be adult men, with the results of one post-mortem examination "inconclusive", while a second post-mortem examination is ongoing.
