Jack O'Sullivan: no sightings three months after disappearance
The 23-year-old hasn't been seen since the beginning of March
Today (June 2nd) marks exactly three months since a man from Bristol went missing on a night out - and officers are no closer to finding what happened to him.
In the early hours of March the 2nd, 2024, Jack O'Sullivan, who is now 23 years old, was heading home from a night out when he suddenly disappeared.
His mum, Catherine, recently shared with us that, despite his last confirmed sighting being in the early hours of the morning, his phone was still receiving WhatApp messages a number of hours after this - with his phone network confirmed to still have connection with his device as late as 06:44 that morning.
Last month, Avon and Somerset Police launched an appeal for find a dog walker who was seen on CCTV amid their investigations into his disappearance.
Senior Investigating Officer DI Jason Chidgey said: "We hope this renewed focus on drivers or motorists using the road system around Hotwells and the Cumberland Basin on the morning of Saturday 2 March will yield more potential footage which can help us provide answers to Jack’s family about what happened to him.
“We know there were a significant number of vehicles in the area during this time and we’ve previously appealed for anyone with dashcam footage to come forward – with a particular focus on the area of Brunel Way, Brunel Lock Road, Junction Swing Bridge, Plimsol Swing Bridge or the Portway, anytime between 2.45am and 4am on Saturday 2 March. We’re also still appealing for any mobile phone or doorbell footage.
“Our thoughts are very much with Jack’s family who are going through an unimaginable ordeal, and we’re committed to supporting them in any way we can.
“To date, we have reviewed and re-reviewed more than 100 hours’ worth of CCTV footage, as well as carrying out extensive land and river searches, involving the dog and mounted section, specialist diver teams using sonar technology, the National Police Air Service (NPAS), and a specialist review team.
Avon and Somerset Police also previously released two new CCTV images in connection with their ongoing investigation into the Bristolian's disappearance.
His last confirmed sighting was at 3.13am at the junction of Brunel Lock Way and Brunel Way in the Hotwells area.
These pictures show someone walking over Plimsol Bridge at around 3.25am, heading back in the direction of Bristol city centre.
The second clip shows someone walking along the Bennett Way slip road on the northern side of the river at around 3.38am.
To-date, officers have trawled through 100 hours of CCTV, reviewing footage from 31 different sources.
Senior Investigating Officer DI Jason Chidgey said: "This has been an incredibly difficult time for Jack O'Sullivan's family as we approach two months since he was last seen, and we continue to provide them with support and keep them fully updated on the investigation into his disappearance.
"Since he was reported as missing, a dedicated team of officers have carried out extensive land and river searches, trawled CCTV and carried out other enquiries.
"This investigation has sought support from a number of specialist units, including the dog and mounted section, specialist dive teams who used sonar technology as part of their searches, the National Police Air Service and a specialist review team. We have also received support from Investigations, Intelligence, Data Analysis, Neighbourhood Policing teams and Communications.
"Our officers have reviewed footage from 31 different sources, including private and local authority CCTV, dashcam and doorbell cameras. To ensure we’ve been as comprehensive in our approach as possible, we’ve recently carried out a re-review of more than 100 hours of CCTV."
Jack is white, approximately 5ft 10ins, of slim build, with short, brown hair.
He was last seen wearing a green/brown quilted Barbour jacket, a beige woollen jumper, navy chinos, and brown shoes with a white sole.
Anyone who was walking, driving or in the area of Brunel Way, Brunel Lock Road, Junction Swing Bridge, Plimsol Swing Bridge or the Portway anytime between 2.45am and 4am on Saturday 2 March is urged to come forward.
Anyone who has any CCTV, dashcam, doorbell or mobile phone footage is asked to review it and contact Avon and Somerset Police if you see anything remotely suspicious or something which could be a person walking.
