Police in Bristol are examining a car after reports a gun was fired in the city last night (29/03).

Armed officers were called to Hareclive Road in Hartcliffe at around 9:40pm on Monday and a police helicopter was also deployed, but no one was found in connection with the incident.

“Those involved in the incident are reported to have fled the area immediately after the firearm was discharged and it is currently unclear whether anyone has been injured," a statement from Avon and Somerset Police reads.

“Members of the public can expect an increased police presence in the area as we seek to locate those involved and establish what happened."

House to house inquires have already begun, as have examinations of nearby CCTV.

Parts of Hareclive Road and Newland Road are currently closed while officers examine the car in question, which has led to some disruption.

On Tuesday morning First West of England tweeted to say their number 76 bus service has been forced to follow a diversion, via Bishport Avenue, Queens Road and Grange Road.

Anyone with information is asked to call 101 and quote the reference number 522073769.
