An investigation is underway into the cause of a fire on Church Road in Bristol, although the Fire Service have told us they have "no idea" what caused it.

Emergency services were called to the former Co-Operative Funeralcare in Redfield yesterday evening (04/06) to reports of "big plumes of smoke" being spotted.

A number of appliances from fire stations around the City were brought to the scene.

Six engines were deployed, two with high-reaching ladders, from a number of stations across the region - involving teams from Temple, Kingswood, Bedminster and Weston-Super-Mare.

The A420 Church Road has since re-opened, with fire crews saying the blaze was put out by 1.30 am.

No fatalities or injuries as a result of the fire have been reported.

Residents nearby were asked to leave their homes as a safety precaution, although its not yet known whether they've been allowed to go home yet.

People living in the area have been asked to keep their windows and doors closed
