People have been urged to keep windows and doors shut after a large industrial fire near Bristol overnight.

Avon Fire and Rescue service confirmed the fire broke out at Oldmixon Indsutrial Estate, Weston-super-Mare.

Winscombe Fire Station and other crews were called to the fire last night (Monday 16 December) at 11.41PM.

Redwatch have now taken over at the incident, damping down and assessing the building for structural safety.

Footage shared by from Avon Fire and Rescue and Bedminister Fire Service on social media shows large clouds of smoke and flames burning through the evening - warning about the scale of the industrial fire.

Locals residents have been urged to close windows and doors where possible and avoid the area where they can.

A spokesperson from the service said: “Please be aware of a large fire ongoing in Oldmixon Industrial Estate, Weston-super-Mare.

"Avoid the area if possible, please can local residents close windows and doors where possible".
