A man from Hartcliffe has become the 16th person charged with violent disorder following clashes between anti-immigration demonstrators, police and counter protestors in Bristol.

Violence broke out in Castle Park and again outside a hotel housing migrants in Redcliffe, on Saturday 3rd August, after misinformation spread online that the person responsible for killing three young girls in Southport last month was an illegal immigrant.

Avon and Somerset Police say 38-year-old Craig Timbrell is due to appear before Bristol Crown Court on Tuesday (20th August).

In total 29 people have been arrested following the disorder on 3rd August and six people have already received prison sentences for their involvement.
