Four men in custody after attack in Weston-super-Mare

The victim, in his 30s, is in hospital with non-life threatening injuries

Four men are in police custody after being arrested in connection with the assault of a man in Weston-Super-Mare last night (June 9th).

The victim, in his 30s, is in hospital with non life threatening stab wounds.

Officers also recovered a knife at the scene following the incident - which happened on Alexandra Parade shortly before 9pm.

In a statement, Avon and Somerset Police said: "Four men, aged 23, 28, 33 and 53 were subsequently detained by armed officers at a nearby property. A knife was also recovered.

"The men, who were arrested on suspicion of attempted murder, remain in police custody and are being questioned by detectives.

"Initial enquiries lead us to believe this was an isolated incident involving people known to each other.

"CCTV continues to be reviewed and specialist crime scene investigators will soon examine the area.

"Neighbourhood officers are targeting their patrols to the Alexandra Parade/ town centre and anyone with concerns about the incident is encouraged to talk to an officer.

"Anyone who witnessed what happened who hasn’t yet spoken with police is asked to phone 101 and provide the call handler with the reference 5224148904."
